Roland Yap is an Associate Professor in the School of Computing, National University of Singapore. He obtained his PhD from Monash University. His research interests are in Cybersecurity particularly in bug finding, defensive technologies, and malware. Other research interests include AI, Big Data, Programming Languages, and Social Networks. He is particularly interested in defensive technologies with notable works in the area of state-of-art memory safety defenses. Where source code is available, sanitizer defenses such as LowFat and EffectiveSan. For closed-source binaries without source code, binary hardening defenses include RedFat and FRP (Fully Randomized Pointers). He is also well known for work in Programming Languages.
